I wanted to write to you all to tell you how sorry I was to hear about your Dad. I have so many fond memories of him and Alice. They took me in and gave me a welcoming and safe place to live when I needed it most. During this time your mum helped disciple me and teach me about God which has shaped the faith I have today. Plus she made the most delicious Sunday dinners. Your Dad was indeed a character. And one of my favorite people that I’ve met over the course of my life. He got me interested in politics, old films, Johnny Cash, reading the newspaper, plus a taste for liquorice cigarettes 😂 I also still use many ‘Alanisms’ such as “as useful as a chocolate teapot” and “what in the blue bloody blazes??” I sometimes find myself randomly singing “jump down turn around pick a bale of cotton” which I have learned is not an appropriate song to sing in Texas. For a brief period of time he was like a father figure and I’m grateful to have known him. I think I remember him saying that he wanted everyone to sing ‘Jerusalem’ at his funeral. i believe because it’s super long and would annoy everybody 😂 Please pass my love onto your mum. Sending my love from across the Alantic
